The Kundiman "Biniro Mo Ang Pag-ibig" is a composition of Tex Salcedo with lyrics written by Levi Celerio. Sung by the Mabuhay Singers under the music supervision of Leopoldo Silos. Audio from a vintage vinyl phonograph recording. == THE MABUHAY SINGERS == Formed by the Villar Recording Company in 1958, the group was a combination of two leading vocal trios at that time --- the Tres Rosas, composed of Carmen Camacho, Nora Hermosa, and Raye Lucero; and the Lovers Trio, composed of Chi Lucerio, Floro San Juan, and Ador Torres. Singers like Ruben Tagalog, Cely Bautista, Ric Manrique Jr., Rita Rivera, Don David, Flor Ocampo, Noel Samonte, Betty Rivera, Robert Malaga, and Everlita Rivera became part of the group at one time or another. With Leopoldo Silos as musical director from 1958 to 1978, the group recorded no less than 100 long-playing albums, some released internationally. They sang traditional and modern Filipino songs in major Philippine languages and songs in English and Spanish. For their top-selling recordings, the Philippine Records Association awarded the group a citation in 1973. = = = = |
