Please do not answer the question unless you are firstly British and married to a non-uk citizen. My fiance is Indonesian. I (male) am British. I dont know whether I need to visit the british embassy in Indonesia. Can the details of bringing her to the Uk be processed there after marriage ?
Please do not reply unless you have experience as a Uk citizen of the protocols – thanks
Jonathon

2British. Yes. Know a few Brits with Thai wife who had finalised the legal process. I feel inclined to offer a second opinion. However, my background information is based on their second opinions. So for what it is worth — this may well be relevant or irrelevant.
Where/when do you plan on getting married? Have you considered flying your love to the UK on a ”fiance visa” instead of — to get wed. After or before. If not this, would you consider coming to the UK to let the fiance experience our British summer-time?
Thailand — foreign husbands can take the wife to a Visa office who will help (on a no-win no-fee basis) process/ forward papers to the UK Embassy BKK. This, for many, lessens the legal burden. Embassy processing is a grey area, however. That is not all.
I have consdered bringing my married partner to the UK. I might bring her to appreciate our British culture first hand. However, I am cautious. Grey areas exist. We have a round-bout idea of embass-ian criteria. We aim to attain all the pre-requisites:
Proof of UK Based Income — UK Residence — UK Based Guarantor — and so on. However, all is very doable if you can prove that you are self-supporting. For example, do you have proof of having been together for a length of time (hard-copy photos).
The legal procedure is to seek out your embassy. Albeit, our personal experiences help to fathom the fine details where others are less than willing to help. Comprendi?
Hope others provide input. Hope this helps.
