	Metal Detecting - neswiper SILVER COIN Find Metal Detecting - neswiper SILVER COIN Find - June 2, 2009 Detector : Minelab X-Terra 305 Sensitivity:9/10 Location : The Magic Forest. It's inbetween the State Pen and The Funny Farm. Next to Salt Creek. The Historical Society record also stated Salt Miners used this creek back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many of the trees in this small forest are at least 4 feet thick. The coin was found in what could have been a classic clearing of several huge trees, overgrown with small trees. I found the coin right after I started having thoughts like "I'm never going to find anything, I need to change areas". All the sudden, "BLEEP" a strong 40 with a trailing ferrous tone. This coin also taught me a valuable lesson. There was iron around/under the coin. Sometimes I will walk away from non repeating signals, as pumping the coil over the target in AM tells me there is ferrous content. (flashes -4) This usually clues me in that it is an iron object that is falsing high tones on the edges. By chance I dug this one because it was repeating well and the rest is history. From now on I am digging all repeat signals this solid even if iron is flickering. Amazing this coin was only 4-5 6? inches down in very loose dirt. Kind of throws off every theory I have made in the past about coin sinkage. Just look at the way that dirt sludge wipes away from the surface of the coin. I hope it's not a fluke.
